How to care for your Nova change mat

Our popular Nova change mat was designed with real life in mind - and yes, that includes all the little messes. From nappy changes to tummy time, it’s built to keep up with your day and clean up with ease. 

Here’s how to look after your Nova so it stays beautiful and hygienic for years to come.


Daily cleaning 

For everyday clean-ups, a gentle baby wipe or a soft cotton cloth with warm water and a mild, neutral detergent after each use will do the trick and keep things fresh for the next changing session.  

 
Can the Nova stain? 

The Nova’s skin-like surface has micro-pores that help break down most messes. But if a spill sits for too long (especially something colourful or oily), it can absorb it and leave a mark. 

Best tip? Wipe things off sooner rather than later for increased longevity
 

Tackling truly stubborn marks 

For stubborn stains, like permanent marker (we see you, mini Picasso), try a small amount of organic solvent: 

  • Rubbing alcohol (alcohol wipes are ideal) 

  • Acetone (found in nail polish remover) 

Wipe gently and finish with a clean damp cloth to remove residue. Avoid overusing these solvents as they may discolour the Nova if left on, and keep them away from the mat’s underside. 

 

What are those little dots underneath? 

Great spotting! Don’t worry, those tiny polka-dot markings on the base are part of Nova’s unique moulded foam process and are completely normal. 

Think of them like little fingerprints… a subtle sign of the craftsmanship that makes each mat one-of-a-kind. Once placed down, they’re out of sight and don’t affect performance or comfort. 

 

Need new Nova feet? 

Your Nova’s non-slip rubber feet are designed to keep it stable and secure, but like the soles of your favourite shoes, they can pick up lint or get scuffed if moved across different surfaces. 

If they ever lose grip or wear out, just contact our team. Replacement feet are available, and are easy to swap in.
